TConvR v.1.0

This application solves thermal convection in a regional domain of a sphere, with velocity boundary conditions imposed on the top surface. The model result shows the evolution of thermal structure in time.

Powered by: FEM engine: CitcomS-2.2.2.; Graphic engine: OpenDX; PHP5; HTML; python; perl; bash

STEP 1: Introduce your parameters

Rayleigh number

Rayleigh number (Ra) specifies how vigurous the convection will be: the higher the Ra the stronger the convection.

Ra:
[1.0e+05, 1.0e+09]
Regional Model

Velocities on the top surface

Vx in the colatitude direction:

[0.1, 10] cm/yr

Vy in the longitude direction:

[0.1, 10] cm/yr
